Class Schedule

Taiji (Tai Chi) is an ancient form of Chinese exercise based on gentle self-defense movements emphasizing relaxation and better health through both mental and physical harmony.

Greg is focusing on two approaches of Tai Chi at this time:

I. Tai Chi for Heath, Flexibility and Balance

This class emphasizes:

  • Improving flexibility, balance and coordination

  • A guided practice in relaxation through gentle movements

  • Strength building exercises through postures and slow movements

  • Improving mental focus

II. Tai Chi for Health and Self Defense

This class emphasizes:

  • Improving flexibility, balance and coordination

  • Development of more internal power and focus while reducing physical effort: "Four ounces topples a thousand pounds"

  • Tai Chi push hands following the yielding principle

  • Various self defense applications taught for each Tai Chi form including ward off, cloud hands, brush bird's tail brush knee twist step and others

  • Strength building exercises through postures and slow movements

  • Hidden Chin-Na (joint locking) techniques revealed in common Tai Chi forms

  • Increasing effectiveness of any self defense style by reducing muscular tension and force

  • Improved mental focus
